Basic Facts about Myanmar
Climate
The climate of Myanmar is roughly divided into three seasons:
Summer,
with highest temperature during March and April in Central Myanmar
up to above 110 ¨H(43.3 ¡æ) while in Northern Myanmar it is about
97 ¨H (36.1 ¡æ) and on the Shan Plateau between 85 ¨H(29.4 ¡æ) and
95 ¨H(35 ¡æ).
Rainy
season, from mid-May to end of October, with annual rain fall
of less than 10 inches in Central Myanmar while the coastal regions
of Rakhine and Tanintharyi get about 200 inches.
Winter,
which starts from November to end of February with temperature
in hilly areas with an elevation of over 3000 feet drops below
32 ¨H(0 ¡æ).
As
a whole, the location and topography of the country generate a
diversity of climate conditions. Seasonal changes in the monsoon
wind directions crate summer, rainy and winter seasons.
During the rainy season,lower Myanmar and coastal areas enjoy heavy rainshowers but it is dry and pleasant in central regions.The average temperature is 30¡æ-35¡æ in summer and 20¡æ-24¡æ in winter.

Religion
The
main religions of the country are Buddhism (89.5 % ), Christianity
(4.9 % ), Muslims (3.8 % ), Hindus (0.05 %), and Animism (13 %
) Religious intolerance or discrimination on grounds of religion
is non-existence in the Union of Myanmar throughout its long history.
